DVD Video | Organist Mark Dwyer | The Church of the Advent | Aeolian-Skinner Opus 940

In JAV Recordings first full length DVD organist Mark Dwyer recorded organ works of Leo Sowerby, Sir Hubert Parry and Louis Vierne on the 1936 Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ at the Church of the Advent in Boston. The organ at The Church of the Advent is well known in organ circles as one of the finest organs in the United States. It is an pioneering example of G. Donald Harrison's mature tonal style, eventually labeled as "American Classic".

Mark Dwyer is the Organist and Choirmaster at The Church of the Advent, Boston, where he directs one of the finest professional choirs in the United States in an extensive repertoire of sacred polyphony to works of the present day. He is acclaimed as both a concert and liturgical organist and has played both in this country and the UK.

The DVD was filmed with three cameras: 2 different angles on the manuals and 1 angle for the pedals. The angles switch to direct the viewer to follow Mr. Dwyer's playing. The audio was recorded with a pair of microphones in the nave of the church and then all 4 pieces of media were synced together. The DVD comes with short essays on the music by Mark Dwyer and an essay on the organ by Jonathan Ambrosino.
