Description

Organist Jared Johnson plays works of the 19th century composers, Richard Wagner and Franz Liszt, on a rare Skinner Pipe Organ installed in the mid-1920s at Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church in Detroit, Michigan. It is a gift of serendipity that this pipe organ survived through the dark period of the Organ Reform movement, when so many fine symphonic organs were thrown out or changed beyond recognition. Mr. Johnson’s performances are musical, technically brilliant, and clearly show his understanding of the use of one of Mr. Skinner’s masterworks. This pipe organ has 68 ranks, with 60 stops on 4 manuals. Its rich palette of 8′ flues, reeds and earth-shaking 32′ wooden Bombarde are a real treat to hear.

  Name Composer
