Video of organist Olivier Latry playing from Widor Symphony No. 5

Olivier Latry is an Organist from the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris. He is seen here playing the Allegro vivace movement of Charles-Marie Widor: Symphony No. 5. This was recorded live with no editing at the dedication of the pipe organ at Our Lady of Refuge Church in the Ditmas Park section of Brooklyn, New York.

This video is given for free for all of those people who contributed to the restoration of the Kilgen Pipe Organ at Our Lady of Refuge Church. Most of the people who gave money to pay for the restoration of this organ had never been to this church or even to Brooklyn. Many were from Europe, Australia and New Zealand. People near and far followed the six year progress of raising the money and restoring the pipe organ online. Some of them traveled thousands of miles from their homes to Brooklyn to be at the dedication. Many could not. This video is given for free for all of those who could not be at Our Lady of Refuge Church. If you like it please share it with your friends and leave some comments. But most of all don’t ever let anyone tell you what is impossible. For when good people work together almost anything is possible.

This video is released with the artist’s permission. Video by the DeSales Media Group, JAV Recordings; Audio by Christoph Martin Frommen; Editing by Joe Vitacco.

The Organ was restored by A.R. Schopp’s Sons, Inc and Quimby Pipe Organs, Inc.
