This recording features the organ and choral works of John Weaver, who has been an institution in the worlds of the organ and church music for decades. To mark his retirement from the Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church in New York City in May 2005, JAV released this compilation of organ and choral music from the Madison Avenue Church, with Dr. Weaver at the helm. John Weaver both plays his own solo organ pieces and conducts the Madison Avenue Presbyterian Church’s choir in performances of solo and liturgical works for various combinations, many of which are unpublished. His wife, Marianne, is also featured as flutist. The church’s pipe organ was built in 1961 by Casavant Frères as its Opus 2660 and was renovated / restored in 2012.
