Organist Thierry Escaich will perform in Brooklyn New York November 21

On November 21, 2014 at 7:30pm one of the greatest improvisers and composers of our time will perform a concert in Brooklyn at Our Lady of Refuge Church. Mr. Escaich will play works of César Franck, Maurice Duruflé and Charles Tournemire, and will improvise four pieces in specific musical forms based on submitted themes.

Thierry Escaich has been hailed by L’Express as one of the “The New French Geniuses.” He plays all over the world and has been called the “Prince de l’harmonie”. You can hear his compositions performed at the New York Ballet, Avery Fisher Hall or hear him in Brooklyn at Our Lady of Refuge in his only concert appearance in New York City in the fall of 2014.

The Salvatones a professional choir will sing Simple Gifts, Good Night Irene, “New York, New York” and then Mr. Escaich will improvise on those songs along with several others.

Mr. Escaich will perform on the church’s newly restored Kilgen Pipe Organ. Michael Barone Producer of Pipedreams recently said of the pipe organ at Our Lady of Refuge “The organ at Our Lady of Refuge Church is quite extraordinary, and its restoration revealed a surprisingly versatile instrument which, despite its modest specification, has been proven capable of playing a wide variety of music in an authoritative and compelling way.”

The audience will be able to see Mr. Escaich’s performance projected on a 10-foot screen.

Our Lady of Refuge Church, is at the corner of Ocean and Foster Avenue in Brooklyn. The front doors of the church will open at 6:45pm.
